A word from President Alan Bartter

"With the outdoor bowling season now well underway it was almost predicatable that temperatures would fall and the wind change direction to a cold north-easterly! However the Green and its surrounds are as always in immaculate shape and thanks are extended to all those who contribute in any way. It is pleasing to note that several new members have joined us and putting in a regular appearance which should bode well for the future. "

Springfield Acton visitOn Sunday 29 May we had our annual visit from a London Club who are long-standing friends of ours. We have been visiting Springfield Acton on alternate years for a long time now but as they so much enjoy visiting our Green and our attractive little town they now come to us every year and we no longer visit London. Loads of laughs as ever and a grand supper to follow and they went off home tired but happy after what for them was a long day. Here is a picture of our very tall Captain Robin and the London skipper. Guess who is who!

On Monday 30th May Barbara Connor and Jennifer Bartter arranged a charity match at the Green in support of funding for "Help for Heroes".

24 of our bowlers turned out and we were very glad to welcome four lady bowlers from Thatcham BC making a very decent total of 28 to do battle over a specially arranged and unusual play pattern. We had a grand afternoon with everyone in happy mood that we could help this very worthy cause in support of our boys. Our final winner was Heather Lewis. We had a raffle to follow after a cup of tea and a biscuit and realised a total of £195 which has been forwared to the Heroes Fund. We are rather proud of our efforts and especially proud of our ladies for arranging the event and making sure that we are well catered for during the playing season. I will be doing a special on this later in the season together with some photos.
